One
of the main characteristics of dogs is their special sense of smell,
which is not only used for getting related to the external world,
but it also allows them to identify smells that cannot be perceived
by the human beings. This makes dogs, no matter their breed, transform
into an extraordinary support for fighting organized crime.
Narcotic-detector dogs
These dogs are trained for alerting when they get the smell of some
drugs. Alert or reaction to these smells may be passive or aggressive
according to the situation or need. The use of these dogs has become
a key tool for counteracting drug trafficking in our country.None
of our dogs in the training stage and daily work has contact with
any of these toxic substances, since they may affect their organization
seriously.
Explosive-detector dogs
These dogs are trained for alerting about explosive substances. Reaction
and warning will be passive due to the nature of explosive devices. In
this type of training, use is made of the substances smelling like
the actual explosives.
The dog learns by repetition, thanks to its fine sense of smell, by
receiving as award its favorite food, and care expressions every time
the dog is successful. Simulated explosives are hidden in several
scenarios such as offices, bedrooms, ball rooms, vehicle bodies, etc.
