TEMPER/
BEHAVIOR:
This dog has a good temper and it is agile. It has an excellent
sense of smell and retrieves delicately; it is a real fan of water.
It is an adaptable animal and a devoted companion. Intelligent,
vivacious and docile, with a strong will to please. Of a kind
character, with no improper signal of aggressiveness or shyness.
HEAD-SKULL
REGION
Skull: Wide, clear, with no fleshy cheekbones.- Nose-front depression
(Stop):
Defined.
-FACIAL REGION:
Truffle: Wide, with well developed nostrils.
Muzzle: Powerful, but not sharp. Jaws/ Teeth: Jawbones of medium
length; strong Jawbones and teeth with a regular, healthy and
complete set of teeth, with a scissor type bite. This is, that
the internal part of the upper incisors is in close contact with
the outer face of lower incisors, and well placed on the Jawbones.
Eyes: Medium size, expressing intelligence and good temper; either
black or hazelnut brown color.
Ears: Not long or thick ears. They must hang down right next to
the head, and they must have a good insertion to the back.
NECK:
Clear, robust, powerful, well placed over the shoulders.
BODY:Back: leveled.Back: Wide, short and strong.
Chest: With a good width and depth; ribs are well arched and barrel
shaped.
TAIL:The tail, a distinctive characteristic of the breed, is very
thing at the base, and it gets thinner gradually toward its tip;
of medium size without fringes, but it must be well covered with
short, thick and dense hair, which gives the “round”
appearance described as “otter” tail. It can be carried
joyfully, but not rolled over the back.
LIMBS-FRONTAL LIMBS: Frontal limbs have good bones, and seen from
the front and from the side, they must look straight from the
elbows to the ground.
Shoulders: long and slanted scapulas.
-BACK LIMBS:Well developed, croup not slanted toward the tail
root.
Femur-tibia-kneecap joints (knees): Well angled
Testicles: Well descended. Cow Testicles are highly undesirable.
-FEET:
Round,
compact, with well arched feet and well developed pads.
- MOVEMENT:
Confident movement that covers enough space; frontal and back
limbs move in planes parallel to the body axis.
FUR- HAIR: Hair is a distinctive characteristic of the breed;
and it must be short and dense without warping or fringes; on
touch, it must give the sensation of being very hard. It has a
layer of water-resistant sub-hair.
COLOR: Fully black, yellow or liver/ chocolate. Yellow color varies
from light cream to fox red. A small white stain is allowed on
the chest.
SIZE: Ideal height to the cross:
Male: 56-57 cm (22-22.5 inches)
Female: 54-56 cm (21.5- 22 inches)
FAULTS:
Any deviation from the criteria mentioned below is considered
as a fault and its seriousness is considered at the degree of
the deviation from standard.
N.B.: Male specimens should have two testicles of normal appearance,
fully descended in the scrotum.
